Basketball off to a winning start

After hard workouts and numerous long hour practices the Pelham Varsity basketball team has started off with a bang. The Panthers started off with a 56-51 victory over John Carroll. The team then moved on to the tournament opener, where they defeated B.B. Comer with a close 62-60 win. The panthers have a current record of 6-2.
“The season has gone great so far! We feel like we should be even better but we’re doing pretty well so far and we hope it will continue,” said junior Justin B.
“We feel like we should be undefeated but we’ve played our hardest and I’m proud of the team,” said senior Ray F.
“This season has gone a lot better than last year. We just hope we can keep playing as well as we have been,” said senior Xavier L.
The varsity team is getting ready to prepare for the Regional and State tournaments.
“We want to get better as a team to get ready to play these guys. Hopefully we will go far in both tournaments,” said senior Ray F.
“We’re talking one thing at a time. We’re preparing for the tournaments by playing as well as we can against the teams we play now. We just have to fix those mistakes against these teams so we will get deep into these tournaments,” said senior Xavier L.
The JoFlo Jungle is a big help to the teams confidence level.
“Keep coming out because we really appreciate all the support the Jungle gives us,” said senior Xavier L.
“We really appreciate all the love and support you guys give us. You don’t have to come out to all the games but we really appreciate that y’all take the time to come out and cheer us on,” says teammates Justin B. and Ray F.

The team will play Calera Tuesday December 13. They will then move on to the Shelby County Tournament in Montevallo which will take place December 13-20. Be sure to come out and support the Panthers as they roll on to victory.
