Colorguard does much more than a halftime show on a Friday night during football season.  They also compete indoors during the winter in Winterguard competitions throughout the South.

The varsity and junior varsity colorguard teams both competed on Saturday, January 21, at Paige High School in Tennessee. They competed against Station Camp and Hoover and many other non-local schools.  The varsity competed in the Scholastic AA division, and the junior varsity competed in the Scholastic Regional Division.

The girls get dressed and ready at the school, and then they are given eight minutes to warm up and eight more minutes to warm up with their props. They have to move a 500 pound tarp and spread it out on the floor, perform their 4 minute show, and then fold the tarp and be completely off the floor in a total of four minutes.

The varsity performed to the song “All is Well” by Point of Grace.  They wear light blue and white outfits with flowy skirts.  The tarp is decorated with blue and silver snowflakes, and they have decorative white Christmas around the edge of the tarp.

The junior varsity performed to “Molly Smiles” by Jesse Spencer.  They wear light pink, light blue, and mint green dresses.

Varsity won first place for their Winter Solstice routine to “All is Well”, and they had a combination of flag and weapons. Junior varsity also had a flag and weapons routine, and competed against nine teams and won third place for their “Molly Smiles” routine.
